This study looks at ways in which a device with two axes of movement (pan and tilt) could be designed, constructed and tested. The device uses a microcontroller to control the motion of the two motors, which produce the pan and tilt movement. The microcontroller receives commands from the computer using asynchronous communication. The interface that will control the devices has three different control applications, arrow keys, number pad keys and mouse control. The device could be used to control a camera or another small apparatus, to calibrate equipment or as a part of a robot.
